Comment after first flights:

"A very stable bird and a delight to fly".

In mid-September (2000) Curran posted me an e-mail with some comments after his first cross-country in his Gyrobee. Here's what he had to say….

"Just got back from my first cross-country in the new gyrobee. Total distance was only 37 nm with a mild head-wind. To tell the truth I was as nervous as a new student pilot going on their first solo cross-country. Took me back to the early days flying Cubs watching a road or train track to see what the wind was doing to you. Made it in 48 minutes with a quarter of a tank in reserve. I indicated 45 just about all the way. The rest of the time was spent climbing and waiting my turn in the patterns. What a blast. Thanks for sharing the design. It took stubbornness to build one since the locals all kept trying to dissuade me. They kept saying that it would never fly, the blade loading was all wrong, the engine was way too small, etc, ad nausium. My experience is that it is a stable design that performs exactly as you said it would. I'm 225 and it jumps off the ground, climbs well, and cruises at 45-50 even in the high heat and humidity in SW Florida. "
